Project Overview
My specialized research is zooarchaeology, which elucidates the relationship between humans and animals and the actual use of animal resources. We are particularly focusing on isotope analysis to clarify the actual state of fishing and hunting grounds, as well as human movements related to their distribution. In recent years, we have also been conducting research to determine shellfish collection areas and pottery clay production areas using isotope ratios. In this open research project, we will focus on the Jomon and Yayoi ruins located on the Sea of Japan side in the Chugoku region, and consider the acquisition and use of animal resources and the movement of humans related to them, based on the stable isotope ratios of carbon, nitrogen, and strontium in fish, mammals, and shellfish, and aim to contribute to research in this area.
